The integration connects Skimmer to LaMotte Spin Touch models 3580, 3581, and 3582 via Bluetooth, allowing water test results to sync directly into the Skimmer app without manual entry.

How does the Spin Touch work?

Who is this available to?
The LaMotte integration is available to customers on the Scaling Up and Skimmer for Enterprise tiers.

How do I activate the LaMotte integration?
Admins can activate it by going to Settings > Readings & Dosages, mapping Spin Touch readings to Skimmer fields and clicking “Activate” to save mappings and activate for the account..

What mobile app version is required?
The latest version of the Skimmer mobile app, v.12.6.1 or later, must be installed to use the LaMotte integration.

Does it work on both Android and iOS?
Yes, as long as the app is up to date and Bluetooth permissions are enabled.

For owners and admins

How do I enable the LaMotte Integration on mobile for my team?
Once the LaMotte Integration is activated in the Skimmer web app, the mobile option to connect to the Spin Touch will appear on the reading cards for all users on the account, whether or not the LaMotte device is present.

Can I customize what readings get imported?
Yes. Admins can map each LaMotte reading to an existing Skimmer readings field or create a new reading in Settings. This can be found on the Skimmer web platform by navigating to Settings > Readings and Dosages.

How can I tell which readings came from the Spin Touch device?
Imported readings are badged in the service history record with a device icon. If the value is edited once imported, the icon is removed automatically.

Will customers see whether a reading came from a device?
No. If a reading came from a Spin Touch device, an icon will be next to the readings in the service history for Skimmer web and mobile platforms, but this icon won't be visible for your customers..

Where can I purchase a LaMotte Spin Touch or disks?
Spin Touch devices and disks are available through major retailers and pool supply distributors. Please get in touch with your preferred supplier for pricing information.

For techs

Where will I see the option to connect to the Spin Touch?
Once activated on web by an admin, the option to connect will appear on the readings card in the Skimmer mobile app for all route stops and work orders.

How do I connect the device in the app?

  1. Perform a sync in the Skimmer mobile app
  2. Tap into a stop and select Perform Stop
  3. Tap Connect Spin Touch
  4. Choose your nearby device from the list

What if my device isn’t connecting?
Check that:

  • The Spin Touch is powered on
  • Bluetooth is enabled on your phone
  • You’re within range
  • You’ve performed a sync in the Skimmer app

Can I change a reading that came from the device?
Yes. Tap the reading to edit it. The device icon will be removed once the value is changed.

I forgot to sync or don’t see the reading. What should I do?
You can retrieve previous test results from the Spin Touch’s test history.

  • On the device, navigate to "Test History"
  • Select the correct timestamped reading
  • On the readings card in Skimmer, tap "Send Results" to transfer to mobile

Troubleshooting

I activated the integration, but don't see the option to connect on mobile. What do I do?

  • Make sure the mobile app is updated to version 12.6.1 or later
  • Perform a sync in the app
  • Confirm the integration is active in Skimmer Web settings

My LaMotte readings aren’t showing up, what should I check?

  • Confirm the integration is activated in the web settings.
  • Make sure the mobile app is updated to the latest version 12.6.1
  • Ensure Bluetooth is enabled.
  • Perform a sync once web activation is complete.
  • Verify that you selected the correct Spin Touch device when pairing. 
  • Ensure the Spin Touch is not connected to another user's device.

What if I’m using a model that isn’t supported?
Only models 3580, 3581, and 3582 are supported. Older or different models may not connect.

Can Skimmer interpret the test results?
Skimmer doesn’t interpret water test results directly, but you can use Skimmer’s built-in Orenda LSI Calculator to get chemical dosing recommendations. This tool is available on the Scaling Up and Skimmer for Enterprise tiers.
