Submit Service Notes and Issues (App)

Submit and manage service notes and issues in the app

Techs can add service notes and report issues from a route in the Skimmer app. The Notes & Issues card shows everything logged for a stop, and it updates immediately whenever you save or delete an item. Admins can also review and manage recent notes right from the app.

Add a service note

  1. On the route screen, tap the route you want to work on.
  2. Scroll to the Notes & Issues section, and tap Add.
  3. From the Notes & Issues screen, tap the plus sign next to Service Note. Skimmer opens the Note form.
  4. Type your note in the text field. Notes can be up to 2,000 characters.
  5. (Optional) Turn on Alert the office if the note is urgent and needs immediate attention.
  6. Tap Save.

    Note: Skimmer prompts you to enter text if you tap Save without writing a note.

  7. Once saved, the note appears as its own row on the Notes & Issues card, with a red alert badge if you turned on Alert the office.

Report an issue

Note: Some issue types require a description or at least one photo before you can save. Skimmer marks these fields with a red asterisk and prompts you to fill them in if you try to save without them.

  1. On the route screen, tap the route you want to work on.
  2. Scroll to the Notes & Issues section, and tap Add.
  3. In the Notes & Issues screen, find the issue type you need, and tap the + next to it. Skimmer opens the Report Issue screen.
  4. Enter a description of the issue. Customers can't see this description; it's for internal use only.
  5. Optional: tap Take a photo to attach up to 5 photos of the issue. A counter shows how many you've added, for example 2 / 5. Tap a photo's thumbnail to edit its caption or delete it.
  6. Tap Save. Skimmer reports the issue to the office.

View, edit, and delete notes and issues

The Notes & Issues card shows every note and issue logged for a stop. If nothing has been added yet, the card displays "No notes or issues added."

  • Notes show up to two lines of text, with a red alert badge if the office was notified.
  • Issues show the issue type name.
  • The card updates immediately whenever you save or delete a note or issue.

To edit a note or issue:

  1. Tap the note or issue on the card. Skimmer reopens the form with your saved content and a red Delete button.
  2. Make your changes.
  3. Tap Save, or tap Cancel in the header to close the form without saving.

To delete a note or issue:

  1. Swipe left on the note or issue.
  2. Tap the delete icon.

Manage service notes in the app

  1. From the admin panel, tap Service Notes. By default the Service Notes tab displays notes added today. To view older notes, you can tap the Yesterday, This Week, or Last Week options at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Check the dot color next to each note. A red dot means the note went to the office as an email alert. A blue dot means it didn't.
  3. Tap a note to open it and edit its contents.
  4. Swipe right to mark a note as handled. The note grays out and the dot disappears. Swipe right again to undo this.
  5. To delete a note, swipe left, tap the trash can icon, and confirm.
