Automatic Email Reminders for Invoices
No more manual follow-ups for outstanding invoices. Now, you can set up automated reminders for customers with outstanding invoices. These reminders can be sent before and after the invoice is due to help you:

We’ve also added some new enhancements to work orders to streamline your business operations further. The following items require 11.8 version of the mobile app.

- Pre-populate items needed on work order types: Save time by pre-populating work order types with the necessary items. No more repetitive manual entry each time you create the work order! The items will automatically be added to your shopping list after creating the work order.
- Send service notes from work orders: Keep the office in the loop! Now, your techs can send service notes, including optional alerts, from a work order just like routine cleanings in the mobile app. Manage these notes from the Service Notes page within Skimmer.

We're thrilled to introduce enhanced checklist features that give you more control and accountability over your techs’ work. This upgrade is available for select packages. Please note that photos associated with checklist items do NOT count towards your general photo limit per stop.

WEB RELEASE: JULY 9, 2024
We have made significant improvements to Skimmer Billing to automate your invoice processing. This eliminates the repetitive work of invoicing for services and dosages, as well as the tedious task of collecting funds and reconciling the payments in QuickBooks Online.
Auto Invoicing & Quickbooks Payment Reconciliation
Our latest release allows you to generate invoices for routine pool service and dosages on the day of your preference. Auto Invoicing allows you to automatically run the generator on a day of the month to quickly and easily invoice pool service and dosages. In addition, you can now reconcile the payments in QBO via the recent QBO integration. Spend less time on paperwork and invoice with ease using this fully automated solution!
How Auto Invoicing Works:
- Under Invoice Settings, enable Auto Invoicing.
- Select the day of the month to generate invoices.
- Select whether to generate & send the invoices automatically or generate as draft only.
- For customers with a Per Month rate type, choose whether to generate invoices for the previous month’s service or the current month’s upcoming service (bill ahead).
- Choose all customers, or only customers with specific tags.
- Select save, and receive an email report showing what invoices were generated and if any need review.
- NOTE: Invoices with work orders still need to be manually generated. Invoices with installed items will be held for review.
How Quickbooks Payment Reconciliation Works:
- When a payout occurs from Stripe, Skimmer makes a copy of the record in QBO for the selected account.
- Payments are marked as “deposited” when a payment is present within a payout.
- NOTE: Payouts have to be using “undeposited funds” in order to mark payments as “deposited.”
With these two new feature enhancements, combined with the existing autopay, you can fully automate the Skimmer Billing process!

We’re happy to announce some awesome enhancements from the Skimmer team!
Generating Invoices
- The invoice generator can now tell what items were previously invoiced. This should help you know exactly what has or hasn’t been billed.
- If you use the rate type ‘month,’ the invoice generator can now tell what calendar month has or hasn’t been billed.
- You can bill ahead for future months if you choose to do so. However, the ‘monthly billing item’ is new and therefore is not considered ‘previously invoiced.’
- You can now bill a month of service, regardless if service occurred in that month period. This makes it easier to bill ahead for future service.
- In addition, the following changes to the invoice generator are now ready to use:
- Customize routine service service line items within the generator.
- Each routing cleaning stop contains dosages and installed items that occurred for that particular visit.
- Customize routine service item name, description, price, taxable status, and whether you want to invoice an item.
- Customize dosage line items from routine cleaning service within the generator.
Bulk Customer Management
- Need to bulk add or remove tags? Now you can from the Customer Listing. Simply select one or more customers you would like to edit, select “Add Tags” or “Remove Tags,” make your changes, and spend less time editing each individual customer profile.
- You can also bulk deactivate/activate customers as well in the same manner described above.

What's new?
TAKE READINGS AND ENTER DOSAGES ON WORK ORDERS
- Take a reading or enter a dosage now during a work order. This is helpful for recurring work orders such as filter cleans, salt cell cleans, pool openings or closings.
- Technicians can now access the body of water for a service location on a work order just as they would during routine maintenance stop.
- From there, the recent activity, the ability to add a reading or enter a dosage is present like a routine maintenance stop.
- You’ll be able to see readings and dosages entered on the service history for a work order as well as routine maintenance service history.
- All dosages entered on a work order are captured within the Chemical Dosages report as well.
ADD MORE PHOTOS FOR SERVICE STOPS, WORK ORDERS, AND SERVICE LOCATIONS
- We’ve increased the photo capacity for all service stops, work orders, and by service location.
- Now take up to 10 photos for a service stop, 10 photos for a work order, and up to 30 photos for a service location (increased from 5, 5, and 20 respectively).

Keeping your customers up to date has never been easier.
FEATURE ENABLEMENT AND PRICING
- You can enable/disable the feature as you see fit
- You are only charged for the successful text messages sent
- Each successful text message costs 2.9¢ per message
- Your monthly bill for Skimmer will include a line item for charged text messages
PHONE NUMBER AND REPLIES
- All text messages from your Skimmer account will come from one number: (844) 544-0267
- The number cannot be customized or changed
- The number does not accept text responses other than STOP and START
- The number can be called, but the caller will receive a voice message stating the number does not receive calls
CUSTOMER ENABLEMENT
- All your customers pool owners are enabled by default
- You can disable/enable a customer at any time
- A customer only receives texts if there is a viable mobile number as Mobile Phone 1 AND if that number is enabled to receive texts
- Your customer can opt out from receiving texts by replying STOP at anytime
- Your customer can opt back in to receive texts by replying START at anytime
TYPES OF MESSAGES
- There are currently 3 events that can trigger a text message: On My Way, Finished Service (Stops and Work Orders), Skipped Stops
- All 3 messages events are on by default
- You can enable/disable each type as you see fit
- Texts for finished work orders are only sent if the Work Order Type is selected to “Notify customer when finished”
HOW YOUR TECHS NOTIFY "ON MY WAY"
- When the “On My Way” message type is enabled, the mobile app workflow is slightly changed
- The “On My Way” workflow includes a new truck icon for every stop and an automatic prompt to ask if the tech is on the way to the next location
- The “On My Way” workflow is only present if Service Texts are enabled, and the “On My Way” message type is enabled
- This is true for all stops, regardless if the pool owner is enabled/disabled or has a viable number as Mobile Phone 1
- Technicians can manually indicate they are on the way by selecting the truck icon
- Technicians are automatically prompted to acknowledge they are on the way to the next location after finishing or skipping the previous stop
- In both cases, a technician can select “Yes” if they are actually on the way or “Not yet” if they are headed somewhere else such as supplies or lunch
- An “on my way” text is only sent if the tech acknowledges they are on the way AND the customer is enabled to receive texts AND there is a viable mobile number for Mobile Phone 1
REPORTS AND USAGE
- You can view from the dashboard how many message have been sent this week, last week, this month, and last month
- You can view a customer’s text usage from the Customer Profile page
- You can view a new report from the left menu “Reports” called “Sent Service Texts” to view the date/time, customer, number, message type, status and cost for each message

We're working on some features for bulk fees, discounts, and line items. Today's deployment included code to enable these features in a future release. We also resolved some minor Skimmer Billing bugs, including an issue to reflect the correct date for broadcast emails sent after 6pm CT and a 500 error when clicking "Service Rates" button in the Customers page.

Skimmer Billing Enhancements:
- Ability for businesses to receive payment receipt confirmations at the same email address specified to BCC invoice emails
- Ability to auto-populate the date of service for work orders within invoices form Work Order Type settings
- You can now mark an invoice with a balance of zero as “paid” in cases where a negative line item was added later to zero out the balance

What’s New?
We’ve made some improvements to the Skipped Stops feature and function! Those with permission to see each others’ tech routes can now see how many stopped without tapping into each technician. This provides admins and owners better visibility into the status of each technician’s route. In addition, techs can now add a reason for skipping a stop, providing admins, owners, and the customer with greater detail. An alert to the office can now be sent when a stop is skipped. If a reason is provided, it will be included. Finally, an alert to the customer’s email can now be sent when a stop is skipped. If a reason is provided, it can be included in the notification to the customer.
Additional Enhancements:
Added support for negative readings - You can now create a negative value for a reading in Settings > Readings and Dosages for both Android and iOS.
Bug Fixes and Improvements:
- Fixed an issue that would sometimes prevent users from saving changes to a Work Order (iOS only)
- Fixed an an issue where whitespace would sometimes appear when editing text in Work Orders (iOS only)
What’s New?
Have a service location with an inaccurate Google Maps location or not on the map at all? You can now use GPS coordinates to map an address from the web app!
Additional Enhancements:
- You can now exclude your billing and address and phone number from a Skimmer Billing invoice in situations where it’s a home address or home phone
- Skimmer Billing now allows you to view all stored payment methods across your customer base to easily determine which methods are currently set to AutoPay
- New Skimmer Billing Report allows you to see the entire billing history of a customer from the customer profile page
- You can also now designate a billing point of contact email from he customer profile page and selectively send invoices to the designated billing point of contact

Enhancements:

- Ensure Apple Pay and Google Pay are enabled for systems where wallet settings are defined and using the proper browser
- Do not require a customer to "re-verify" a bank method if payment was already used previously from customer invoice

Hooray! Skimmer Billing is now ready for the first wave of Skimmer Billing Early Access Program participants! Skimmer Billing has been tested to successfully generate 2,000 invoices in less than 60 seconds. Here is more of what you can do with Skimmer Billing:
- Create invoices from scratch, edit and add line items as necessary
- Send your customers invoices via email, customers can pay invoices online, and save a card on file for future use
- Manage invoices with ease, add payments directly, bulk update invoices, and view your outgoing sales at a glance
- Manage payments, view failed attempts, refund all types of payments, see your income flow in real time
- Create tax rates and group them together for specific locations, bulk update your service locations
- Customize your invoice emails and payment receipts, manage your default taxable items
- Define your pool service and work order line item defaults for invoices
